Malavika Sangghvi does an Arundhati!

As if Arundhati Roy’s statements were not enough, here comes another writer and renowned journalist, Malavika Sangghvi, wife of another popular writer & journo, Vir Sanghvi. For all of you who are wondering as to why Ms. Sangghvi is compared to Ms. Roy, for her (Ms. Roy’s) inflammatory, uncalled for and weird statements on August 18, 2008; Ms. Sangghvi has done anti-Indians and rabble-rousers proud by her undesirable piece of writing on page 10 (Mumbai edition), Sunday DNA, one of India’s frontline newspapers. This divisive article is also easily available on the worldwide web.

It is definitely a matter of utmost shame and pity as a ‘responsible’ journalist like Malavika Sangghvi is creating furor and chaos to the already worrisome situation in Kashmir, an integral part of India. Why don’t well educated Indians understand that their irresponsible personal statements involve and affect the country as a whole? It is all the more paradoxical as Ms. Sangghvi claims to be a daughter of Kashmir!! Ms. Sangghvi went on to say, “We have failed Kashmir and we don’t deserve her anymore. Leave Kashmir alone. Set her free”. What does she mean! As an individual, she has NO right to pass such outlandish statements which will undeniably create MORE tension in the valley. Seems she doesn’t remember (or refuses to acknowledge) that Pakistan and Bangladesh were integral parts of India and were divided by selfish interests of a few people within the sub-continent and of course, the British. If, by any chance, sadist warlords and political nuts succeed in what Ms. Sangghvi wants, then India will not only lose one more integral part of its territory but many more…

Ms. Sangghvi should live in Utopia if she’s SO feeble and can’t fight for her homeland (forget the country, when she’s skeptical about her native soil!). It’s high time that someone RESPONSIBLE and powerful puts such inconsiderate and reckless people in place.

She is putting forward a bad example for the ones who are struggling day and night to solve the Kashmir calamity. Whats her problem?!

p.s. - how do you write SO WELL?

I can see your disagreement with her stance and I respect that, but you being a journalist should know better than executing or jailing people for expressing their opinion

... such intolerance for public debate leads to the bigotry that plagues our country today.
Well 'Anonymous', i agree I'm a journo, however i'm an Indian 1st & the nation's interest comes before my profession! Secondly in line with your view/comment- no doubt we have so many separatist movements and terror attacks in India (the latest striking Mumbai on November 26, 2008)

It is easy to call shots from out side Kashmir, let you come to Kashmir and see what your so called security forces are doing there. It is Kashmir alone not Jammu and Kashmir or any other part of India, which has consumed nearly one lakh lives in last 20 years of insurgency.
Secondly I do agree it is HEAVEN for you but for Kashmiris is it so? Don't give blind shots....our emotions are leading us into a situation which could end up into a quagmire.

Interesting. May I bring to your attention a similar debate on this, where Ma Sanghvi is compared favorably against my friend ramananda sengupta?
