Jaya Bachhan and Raj Thackeray's slugfest...continues

Jaya Bachhan, an acclaimed Indian actress and politician, more famous as Mr Amitabh Bachhan's better half, and Raj Thackeray, the firebrand and vociferous political figure, arch leader of the political party, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS)...resorted to mudslinging, yet again! Moreover, it seems this embroglio is here to stay, for LONG.

As if the regional 'warfare' wasn't enough, Mrs Bachhan pulled out yet another rabbit from the hat and how! Looks like film Drona's music release 'happened' to be the perfect backdrop for her (Mrs Bachhan) to launch another offensive which definitely didnt go well, at least with MNS and numerous people, not only from the state of Maharashtra but the entire country. Several sources (including the media) confirm that Mrs Bachhan, jeering and laughing away, passed comments, which she claims were harmless...she went on to say (after some talks in English by her son and Goldie Behl) that we are from the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), and we should speak in Hindi. Furthermore, it didn't end here, she decided to stretch the rubber/elastic beyond its capacity and said, that people of Maharashtra please apologize...the latter statement should be observed and heard carefully- one can sense derision here...

Kaput, here it goes, Raj Thackeray sniffs, and sniffs it well...now its payback time...he unleashes sufficient brickbats and as expected the media goes gaga over the entire episode. Sensing the imminent danger and backlash, Mrs Bachhan surfaces again, this time with a 'real' apology. What's the use, more than enough damage is already done and the fire of regionalism flares yet again. The blame game will definitely continue. What is unnerving- when will supposedly mature and educated people (in this case, Mrs Bachhan) refrain from making unwanted uncalled for statements...that too when they are in the limelight quite often. Don't they realise that they are been watched (sadly even idolised) by 'n' number of people across India and the globe...

All said and done, there will be many more mayhems in India until the political circus and the 'filmi chakkar' prevails over this nation marked with several regional hotspots...

Either Arundhati Roy’s faculties are not in place OR she needs to be banished from India…

Seems author Suzanna Arundhati Roy is on a totally different ‘trip’ and ‘high’ on an unusual note! Indian nationals who support the cause for a united India will empathize with this statement as Ms Roy, the so-called activist made absolutely weird statements on August 18, 2008. India Shining, at the Olympics…

Indians are FINALLY making their mark in Olympics, the international multi-sport event. It is unambiguously a moment of pride, guts and glory, not only for the emergent winners, but also for the entire nation. Abhinav Bindra set the ball rolling by winning the FIRST individual Olympic gold medal for India .
